Who is Autumn?
She’s Steffanie’s alter-ego…actually, she’s no one. The name Autumn Hunter came from Steffanie’s kids middle names, Kaya Autumn and Jackson Hunter. If you knew Steffanie in her radio days, she also went by Hunter on-air. The kids are her why, even if they are all grown now!
What services are provided?
We do a little bit of everything from hanging curtains to full bathroom renovations. The company is split into 3 different umbrellas.
Handywoman services- hanging curtains, small drywall repair, replacing a faucet or garbage disposal, deck repair, fence repair, stair remodels, carpentry, light electrical and plumbing, honey-do lists
Woodworking Services- built in cabinetry, cabinetry in general, building doors, bookshelves, tables, etc.
Bathroom & Kitchen Renovations- from a full gut job to just retiling a bathtub or installing a new vanity, we can do it all.

Are you hiring?
We’ve never been actively hiring when we’ve hired someone. Sometimes, the vibe is right and we do what we can to get that individual on the team. If you’re kind, thoughtful, passionate, have experience and don’t mind being bossed around by a woman, send an email to info@autumnhunterdesign.com.
How do I get an estimate?
Just click the “request an estimate” button at the top of the page. You’ll fill out a form, show us your inspiration and Kim will reach out to schedule an estimate if needed. If not, she’ll let you know our hourly rate for that service and schedule a tech. Super easy!
How does your process work for larger projects?
In the initial phase, Steffanie will come evaluate your project and provide an estimate of our anticipated labor costs for the project. Once you agree to that, we can plan out design and more specifics.We don’t typically estimate materials cost i.e. tiles because everyone’s taste is different and every tile is a different price. In a perfect world, before your project begins, Steffanie and the Project Manager assigned to the job will come and confirm all portions of the project before we begin. After that, your Project Manager is your main contact. He will be on site most days to make sure the job is being completed to your standards and what we had agreed upon. We don’t sub out our work so our team will be with you from start to finish!
How do we pay?
We accept all major credit cards, zelle and venmo. If you accept an estimate, you’ll receive an invoice for your deposit. All invoices can be paid online, unless you prefer to pay via zelle or venmo.
Is my deposit refundable?
No, your deposit is not refundable. However, if you want to change your deposit to a new project, we can certainly accommodate that. The deposit is used to reserve time in our calendar so we don’t over-book ourselves. It also allows us to purchase materials prior to your job beginning so that we can be prepared.
Are you insured and bonded?
Yes, if you need, we can provide our insurance and bond information for your project.
What are your service areas?
Generally 20 miles from Richmond. We service Ashland to the north, Chester to the south, Chesterfield/Goochland to the west and Hanover/East End of Henrico to the east. However, we have made special considerations for specific projects. If your project is outside of these areas, let us know and if we can’t help you, we’ll try and find someone who can!
What happens if you can't fix it?
We have a whole entire team of people that we trust and rely on for times when things go beyond the scope of what we are able to do. From HVAC to roofing and flooring, we have trusted partners we’re happy to connect you to!
How much do you cost?
That varies and this is why we do estimates. We are not the cheapest, but also not the most expensive either. Our typical hourly rate for two employees is $195. This varies based on type of job, skill level and length of the project. We are always happy to do a free estimate. But keep in mind, an estimate is just an educated guess!
How can I reach Steffanie?

What is the Membership Plan?
With a membership plan from Autumn Hunter Design, you’ll receive dedicated attention to your honey-do list, benefiting from 4 hours of service during each visit, along with ongoing membership privileges. Every membership entails a comprehensive property inspection, ensuring transparency and avoiding unforeseen issues. Additionally, members enjoy exclusive discounts on supplementary services. What is the pricing?
Handy Dude Membership pricing starts at $39.99 a month and goes up from there, depending on the level of membership you choose. Click here to learn more about our Handy Dude Membership and pricing.
What services are included?
Our Check-In Plan involves quarterly checkins where we will change your air filters, change batteries in smoke detectors and replace lightbulbs, if needed. Your tech will then do a thorough inspection of the property and you will receive a check-up report within 2 business days from your appointment.
The Handy Dude Plan includes 4 hours of labor doing any handy-dude items on your to-do list.
The Super Handy Dude Plan includes bi-monthly visits of service for 4 hours. Add to your honey-do list and let us do all the work! We will also include an inspection report with things to plan ahead for!
How long is the commitment?
When you sign up for a membership with Autumn Hunter Design, we ask for a minimum 6 months commitment.
Can I move my appointments throughout the year to accomplish a larger project?
Yes, if this is your intention, just let us know so we can schedule accordingly. If you’ve only got 2 days worth of work for the year, grab a handy-dude plan and save yourself some money! We created this plan to make it easier to get things done at a more affordable cost.
Do I get presents when I sign up for any of the plans?
Yes, if you know Steffanie, you know she loves to give gifts. When you join the plan, we’ll send you some AHD swag including a white board to keep track of your honey-do list!
